AS Roma is reportedly interested in Hwang Hee-chan.

Italy’s Calcio Line reported on the 9th (KST), “AS Roma could be interested in signing Hwang Hee-chan. They could do so for no more than 10 million euros (about 13.9 billion won). However, the first task is to organize the squad. President Thiago Pinto is preparing to make a decision, and Hwang could be waiting to be contacted,” the report said.

Hwang joined Wolverhampton on loan from RB Leipzig ahead of last season. The first impression was a strong one. Hwang made his debut as a substitute against Watford and promptly scored his debut goal. From then on, Wolverhampton fans had high hopes for him, and he finished the season not too badly despite the injury bug.

Wolverhampton decided to buy him outright, and he looked set to make a big impact this season, switching from the number 26 to the number 11 shirt. However, injuries slowed him down. Hwang’s good start to the season was interrupted by an assist in the opening game of the English Premier League (EPL) against Leeds United.

He was sidelined for about three weeks from mid-September, during which time Wolverhampton won just two of their first 15 league games, leading to the 스포츠토토 sacking of manager Bruno Raz. Fortunately, his replacement, Julen Lopetegui, gave Hwang the benefit of the doubt. He struggled with a few injuries in the second half of the season, but scored three goals in the last 10 games of the season to end on a high note.

Reflecting on the year, Hwang also expressed his determination to do better next season. “We weren’t at our best this season,” he told Wolverhampton’s website on June 6. I want to achieve more next season, and I have the ability to do so. I want to achieve something with Wolverhampton, and my first goal is to qualify for Europe.”

Hwang is contracted to Wolverhampton until the summer of 2026. He still has plenty of time left on his contract, so there’s no need to rush into a move this summer. However, rumors of a move to Aston Villa surfaced in late May, suggesting that Wolverhampton may have to sell several players, including Hwang, to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

“Aston Villa have been in contact with Wolverhampton over a possible move for Hwang Hee-chan, with the club now facing the prospect of having to sell some players to comply with FFP rules. Hwang is one of them,” the report said.

The transfer speculation faded as Hwang revealed his ambitions for next season. However, rumors have recently surfaced that AS Roma are interested. Roma have been impressive this season under Jose Mourinho. They finished sixth in the Italian Serie A and qualified for the UEFA Europa League (UEL) next season. They also finished as UEL runners-up.

AS Roma have been led up front this season by Tammy Abraham and Andrea Belotti, with Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini, and Stephan El Shaarawy in the second line and on the flanks. Mourinho also managed Tottenham Hotspur prior to his arrival at Roma, where he coached Son Heung-min.
