SSG Landers suffered the humiliation of not having a single Golden Globe winner in the three years since 2020.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) held the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO Golden Glove Award Ceremony at the COEX Auditorium in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul at 5 p.m. on Nov. 11.
SSG received a total of 10 nominations. First, Kim Kwang-hyun, Noh Kyung-eun, Seo Jin-yong, and Oh Won-seok in the pitching category. Next, Choo Shin-soo was nominated for designated hitter, Choi Jung-jeong and Park Sung-sung for third base and shortstop, and Kim Min-sik for catcher. With the exception of Heredia, most of these players were unlikely to win the award. Heredia hit .323 with a .846 OPS, 12 home runs, and 76 RBIs in 2023. That was good enough for the LG Twins’ Hong Chang-ki, the Samsung Lions’ Koo Ja-uk, and the NC Dinos’ Park Geon-woo to win the award. However, Heredia (101 votes) fell just 38 votes short of third-place Park (139 votes).

Outside of Heredia, the rest of the players received very few votes. Choi was the only other player to receive double-digit votes (16), and SSG walked away from the ceremony without a Golden Glove winner in three years.
