Huh Jung-moo, former coach of the Korean national team, announced his candidacy for the 55th president of the Korea Football Association. Former coach Huh Jung-moo decided to run as he saw the current collapse of the Korea Football Association, and he claimed to serve as a stepping stone.

According to News 1, Heo held a press conference at the Athens Hall of the Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul on Saturday and expressed his intention to run for the 55th president of the Korea Football Association. Fans were aware of Heo’s expression through articles and were waiting for his official announcement. Heo finally held an official press conference thanks to fans’ expectations.

When asked why he decided to run for office, Huh said, “At first, I was negative about running for office. Then, I was criticized for not speaking out when the Korea Football Association is shaking. At that time, I felt that someone had to speak out on behalf of a soccer player, and I took courage even if it was this small.”

Heo continued, “Korean soccer is faltering. It is neither clean nor transparent nor just. The KFA’s dogmatic and self-righteous operating system eventually resulted in the collapse of the system. Today, the association’s status has fallen to the ground due to a series of opaque and immature administrations, and shameful acts that do not want to correct mistakes even though they know they are making mistakes, and Korean soccer is regressing.”

Huh is a highly experienced administrator. After resigning as Incheon United coach in 2012, he returned to the Korea Football Association as vice chairman of the association in 2013. Having worked with Chairman Chung Mong-gyu, he resigned as vice chairman of the Korea Football Association a week after announcing that he would retain Hong Myung-bo, the coach who caused the World Cup disaster, in July 2014.

After that, he was elected as the vice president of the Korean Professional Football League in 2015, and he continued to play until 2019, impressing K-League fans. In 2020, he assumed the chairmanship of the foundation of Hana Citizen in Daejeon, where he led the team’s management solidly, and invested heavily in the youth. The biggest discovery was that he recruited Bae Jun-ho from Stoke City to Daejeon after learning about his current abilities.

After resigning from his post in 2023, he finally ran for president of the Korea Football Association. “It is important to create a fair system to overcome the crisis,” Huh said, suggesting five keywords as a solution for Korean soccer: △ accompanying △ fairness △ balance △ transparent △ fostering. 온라인카지노

Finally, coach Huh Jung-moo said, “It is time for footballers to unite and unite to make efforts for the new birth of Korean soccer along with all the people who love soccer. That way, Korean soccer can change and leap forward again. This path I am trying to take is definitely a thorny path. There are huge barriers, too. However, someone decided not to give up on the way to go and take the lead. I hope you will also raise the wind of change together. I will start a pleasant challenge with you to reform the Korea Football Association and create a new 100 years of Korean soccer.”

Coach Huh Jung-moo is considered the only opponent that can block Chung Mong-gyu, president of the Korea Football Association, from seeking a fourth term. The election for the 55th president of the Korea Football Association will be held until Dec. 12, and voting will take place on Jan. 8 next year after a three-day candidate registration period from Dec. 25.
