Hanwha Peña started the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League regular-season game against the NC Dinos at NC Park in Changwon on Sunday and threw six innings of five-hit ball on 95 pitches with four walks and four strikeouts to lead the team to a 5-0 victory. With the win, Peña improved to 4-0 on the season.

Peña got herself into trouble on the day by allowing a relatively high number of hits, but she worked her way out of the jam. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the first, a bases-loaded jam in the second, a bases-loaded jam in the fourth, a bases-loaded jam in the fifth, and a bases-loaded jam in the sixth to complete a quality start.

He threw up to 150 mph fastballs (41), 30 curveballs and 24 changeups to keep the game close. This extends Peña’s streak of quality starts to five games. His ERA during this stretch is 2.03 (7 earned runs in 31 innings). It was a perfect end to May for Peña.

Finally, he said, “I am encouraged by the fans who always come and support us despite being away from home. I will always be grateful to them,” he said.
