The men’s soccer match for the 2024 Paris Olympics has been confirmed. If Korea advances to the finals, it will be able to avoid powerful teams such as France, the host country, and Argentina, the “candidate” for the title.
The Paris Olympic Organizing Committee held a draw for men’s soccer for the 2024 Paris Olympics in Saint-Denis, France, on the 21st (Korea Standard Time).
Group A includes France, the host country, and the winners of the U.S., New Zealand and the Asia-Africa Playoff. Group B includes Argentina, Morocco, Ukraine and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), which are considered favorites.
Spain, Egypt, the Dominican Republic and AFC teams were assigned to Group C, and Paraguay, Mali, Israel, and AFC teams were assigned to Group D.
Only AFC member countries have yet to decide which team will advance to the Olympics. The AFC U-23 Asian Cup, which will run from April 15 to May 3, will also be held at the same time as the Olympic qualifying round, with the third-place team granting them a berth to the finals. The fourth-place team will play against Guinea in Africa to qualify for the finals.
If South Korea passes the preliminary round, it will enter Group C or Group D, avoiding strong teams such as France and Argentina.
According to FIFA, the Asian countries that make it to the finals will be ranked based on the performance of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. According to FIFA’s criteria, the first place in AFC will be Group D and the second place in AFC will be Group C. The third place will go to Group B.

If Korea and Japan make it to the finals, Korea will be in Group C. On the other hand, if Japan is eliminated and Korea advances to the finals, Korea will be in Group D.

South Korea will play its first Group B match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on April 17 in the Olympic qualifying round, followed by China on April 19 and Japan on April 22.
