Jose Pirela, an out-of-towner from Hyoja, hit his first home run in June.
Pirela started the 스포츠토토seventh game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the Kiwoom Heroes on Tuesday at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, South Korea, batting third and playing left field.
With two outs in the first inning, Pirela connected on a 124-kilometer curveball from starter Choi Won-tae for a two-run home run. It was Pirela’s eighth home run of the season.
It was Pirela’s first home run in June. His last home run was on May 19 against the Changwon NC Dinos. He fired up the cannon after 32 days.
Won-tae Choi had seven consecutive quality starts (six innings or less) before this game. Pirela was able to rattle Choi, giving his team the lead.
