Veteran left-handed pitcher Wonjun Jang (38) of the Doosan Bears has reached 2,000 innings in his personal career.

Wonjun Jang started in the final game of the regular season against SSG Landers in the 2023 Shinhan Bank Sol KBO League held at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 17th and recorded 7 hits (2 home runs), 2 strikeouts, 3 walks, and 5 runs in 4⅓ innings.

Jang Won-Jun, who had recorded 1,995⅔ innings in his personal career before today’s game, finished the regular season with exactly 2,000 innings in his personal career. It is the 9th in KBO League history.

Jang Won-jun, who began his professional career by joining the Lotte Giants in 2004, made his debut against the Daegu Samsung Lions on April 4 of that year.

He played for Lotte until 2014, appearing in 258 games and pitching 1,326 innings. After transferring to Doosan through a free agent contract in 2015, he pitched 674 innings in 188 games.

Jang Won-jun, who played as a solid ace from 2015 to 2017 and took the lead in building the Doosan dynasty, has gone downhill sharply since 2018. He suffered from injuries and poor performance and had to change his position to the bullpen, and appeared in only two games in the first team in 2020.

Last year, he appeared as a bullpen in 27 games, had no wins, 1 loss, 6 holds, and an ERA of 3.71, and was on the verge of retirement.안전놀이터

Jang Won-jun, who showed his intention to extend his playing career to coach Lee Seung-yeop, who took over the baton after the 2022 season, was given the opportunity to stand as a starter on the first team stage again this year.

Although he was not in the first team continuously, he appeared in 11 games (10 as a starter) to this day and played 41 innings.

Doosan, which had originally planned to select Choi Seung-yong as the starter for this day’s game, changed its plan after losing 2-3 to SSG on the 16th and finishing in 5th place. In the wild card game, Jang Won-jun was selected as the starter after considering Choi Seung-yong as a bullpen.

Jang Won-Jun, who got his chance in the final game of the regular season, finished the season by completing his 2,000th career innings.
