San Diego Padres right-hander Darvish Yu broke out of his recent slump.

On April 4 (ET), 스포츠토토 the right-hander started a home game against the 2023 Major League Baseball Chicago Cubs at Petco Park in San Diego, California, and pitched seven innings of two-hit ball, striking out nine and walking one to lead the Padres to a 6-0 victory.

After going 1-2 with a 3.60 ERA in five games in April, Darvish struggled in May. He went 2-2 in five games, but his batting average rose from .229 to .260 and his ERA was 5.74 compared to April.

On May 29 against the New York Yankees, he gave up seven runs on seven hits (one home run) and two walks in 2⅔ innings, but his first start of June was a different story.

According to MLB.com, “Darvish pitched seven scoreless innings. As he walked to the dugout, fans greeted him with a standing ovation.”

Darvish’s teammates were impressed, too. “It was great,” said Fernando Tatis Jr. who had a multi-homer game and four RBIs. “Our whole team was playing great baseball, and Darvish pitched seven shutout innings.

Even the opposing Cubs manager agreed. “Kudos to him,” said manager Dave Ross.

MLB.com said, “Darvish was outstanding, and the fans were in for a treat.” “The San Diego defense, especially second baseman Ha-Sung Kim, helped Darvish with his running plays,” MLB.com said.
