Former professional basketball coach Kang Dong-hee (57) was handed over to trial on charges of embezzling 100 million won in operating expenses while serving as the head of a famous basketball class.

According to the legal community on the 6th, the Incheon District Prosecutor’s Office recently indicted five people, including former coach Kang and four people involved in the basketball classroom corporation, without detention, on charges of embezzlement and breach of trust in business. 먹튀검증

From May to October 2018, they were accused of personally spending 100 million won in operating funds or using them for purposes other than the original purpose while co-operating the basketball classroom corporation, which was headed by former coach Kang.

After receiving a complaint in March 2021, the police conducted an investigation by analyzing financial transactions and fund flows of the corporation, and sent former director Kang and others to the prosecution in October of the same year.

In addition, the police received an additional complaint in January of last year claiming that former coach Kang embezzled 220 million won of corporate funds from another basketball class, and is conducting an investigation by confirming the facts.

Former coach Kang, who was called the ‘court wizard’ as a player, received 47 million won from brokers in 2011 and was sentenced to 10 months in prison in 2013 for manipulating the match by putting in substitute players instead of starting players. He was also expelled from KBL in September.
