San Diego Padres infielder Kim Ha-seong was nominated for two Gold Glove awards, but unfortunately failed to win the Fielding Bible Award.
The U.S. Sports Information Solutions (SIS) announced the winners of the 2023 Fielding Bible Award on the 27th. The Fielding Bible Award is given to players who played the best defense in a season. Ha-seong Kim, who won two Gold Glove awards, unfortunately did not receive any awards.
The Fielding Bible Award is an award given to players with the best defense at each position, and is now in its 18th year. It is decided by a vote of a panel of 16 experts, and each player’s scores are added together to give a score out of 160.
In the second baseman category, where Kim Ha-seong mainly played this season, Andres Jimenez of the Cleveland Guardians won the award. Jimenez enjoyed the joy of winning his first Fielding Bible Award.
SIS said, “Jimenez ranked first among second basemen with +23 DRS (defensive contribution),” and “he was the only infielder to block at least 10 plays on both left and right sides in the 2023 season.”
Ha-seong Kim ranked 5th in the second baseman competition announced by SIS, following Jimenez, Marcus Semien, Bryce Touran, and Nico Horner. Ha-Seong Kim’s DRS as a second baseman was +10.
Mookie Betts, Ha-Sung Kim’s National League Gold Glove Utility contender, won the Fielding Bible Award in the Utility category. Betts won his sixth Fielding Bible Award, tying with Andrelton Simmons and Yadier Molina for the most awards. 굿모닝토토 주소
Betts rose to the top with a utility total of +10 DRS, with +7 DRS in second base and +3 DRS in right field. Ha-seong Kim recorded DRS +3 at shortstop and DRS +3 at third base, unfortunately failing to beat Betts.
Kim Ha-seong, who was nominated for two Gold Glove awards, an award given annually to the best defender at each position in the Major League, unfortunately did not receive the award. Ha-seong Kim was named as a finalist for the Gold Glove Award in the second baseman and utility categories.
The Gold Glove winner will be decided by votes from the 30 club managers and coaches, and will be announced on the 6th of next month. Now, all that remains for Kim Ha-seong is to become the first Korean to win the Gold Glove Award.
