Solvers did it. Real Madrid is heading to the quarterfinals.

Real Madrid tied Leipzig 1-1 in the second leg of the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League (UCL) round of 16 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain, at 5 a.m. on the 7th (Korea Standard Time). Real Madrid advanced to the quarterfinals with a combined score of 2-1.

The home side Real put forward a 4-3-1-2 formation. Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Orelien Chouameni, Toni Kroos, Ferran Mendy, Nacho Fernandez, Dani Carvajal and Andriy Lunin were on the field.

Real Madrid stands out as the most winning team in the Champions League. However, in the last five games, it has only won once. In the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons, it failed to advance to the final due to its failure in the semifinals. Last season, it aimed for a “two-game losing streak,” but it knelt down to Manchester City with a combined score of 1-5 due to a 1-1 draw and 0-4 loss, respectively.

Real Madrid will aim for the big year again in the 2023-24 season. They belonged to the same group as Napoli, Braga, and Union Berlin in the group stage, and went to the tournament as No. 1 in the group through all wins. They won 1-0 and 3-2 against Berlin, 3-2, 4-2 against Napoli, and 2-1 and 3-0 against Braga. They finished the group stage easily by scoring 16 points and seven goals.

The opponent in the round of 16 met a relatively tricky one. The matchup against Leipzig, one of the most powerful European countries in Europe, has been decided. Leipzig competed against Manchester City, Young Boys, and Tsurvena Zvezda in Group G. They lost 1-3 and 2-3 to Manchester City, but finished second in the group, making double plays against Young Boys (3-1·2-1) and Zvezda (3-1·2-1). Leipzig’s recent performances in the European competition were in the Champions League semifinals (vs. Paris Saint-Germain), the Champions League round of 16 (vs. Liverpool) in the 2020-21 season, the Europa League semifinals (vs. Rangers) in the 2021-22 season, and the Champions League round of 16 (vs. Manchester City) in the 2022-23 season.

Real Madrid won 1-0 in the first match of the last round of 16 at home in Leipzig. Brahim Díaz scored the winning goal in the third minute of the second half. Díaz, who caught the ball from the right, ripped off all Leipzig’s defense with an explosive dribble. Then, he cut the net with an exquisite winding kick toward the par post from a diagonal direction in the penalty box. 노래방알바

The list for the first leg was as follows: Leipzig were Benjamin Seschko, Luis Offenda, Xavi Simmons, Dani Olmo, Xaver Schlager, Benjamin Henrix, David Raum, Willie Orban, Lucas Klostermann, Mohamed Simakan, Peter Gulach, while Real were Vinicius Junior, Hodrigo, Brahim Díaz, Eduardo Camavinga, Toni Kroos, Federico Valverde, Ferran Mendy, Nacho Fernandez, Orelien Chouameni, Dani Carvajal and Andriy Lunin.

It was only a one-point gap, so it was not easy to predict the whereabouts of the ticket to the quarterfinals. Both Real and Leipzig played in the second round with the best possible power.
