Ulsan HD Ko Seung-beom was selected as the best player in October by a 0.36%p difference.
The Korea Professional Football Federation said on Tuesday that Ko has become the winner of the EA SPORTS K League Player of the Month award in October. Ko, who is in his ninth year as a pro this season, was nominated as the Player of the Month for the first time and received the honor. Ko will receive the prize along with the Player of the Month trophy.
The Player of the Month award in October was based on players’ performance in K League round 33-35 games held in the same month. Along with Ko Seung-bum, Edgar (Daegu FC), Lee Ki-hyuk (Gangwon FC), and Cho Hyun-woo (Ulsan) competed.
Ko scored one goal in the 33rd round against Gimcheon Sangmu, spearheading Ulsan’s 2-1 victory. He also scored the finishing goal in the 35th round against Pohang Steelers, leading the team to 2-0 win. The Player of the Month award in October was a tight race between Ko and Edgar. The combined score of the two players was only 0.36 percentage point, with Ko Seung-beom standing at 34.53 percent and Edgar standing at 34.17 percent. This is the smallest total score difference among the total votes for the Player of the Month award.
Meanwhile, the Player of the Month award selects the candidate group through voting (60 percent) by the Federation TSG Technical Committee among the players who were selected as the MOM, Best Eleven, and Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the K League 1 game held for a month. The winner will then be decided by combining fan voting (25 percent) and FC online user voting (15 percent).
