Tottenham Hotspur, where “captain” Son Heung-min was absent, suffered a shock upset.
Tottenham lost 2-3 to Brighton and Hove Albion in the seventh round of the English Premier League at the American Express Stadium in Brighton, England, on the 7th (Korea time). With this, Tottenham fell slightly to ninth place with three wins, one draw and three losses.
Son Heung-min was excluded from the list for the third time in September after suffering a hamstring injury in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League phase against Garabach.
Tottenham scored the first goal at the 23rd minute of the first half. Brennan Johnson finished off Dominic Solanke’s pass with a left-footed non-stop shot. Johnson’s goal in six consecutive matches (all tournaments) is the first goal scored by a Tottenham player since Harry Kane in January 2019. He already surpassed his personal record (five goals in 34 matches) last season.
He then scored an additional goal for James Maddison at the 37th minute of the second half. With Timo Werner’s pass, he opened the Brighton goal with his right foot. 스포츠토토
But Tottenham collapsed in the second half.
Kaoru Mittoma had his left side penetrated consecutively. Mittoma’s goals were all passed by Jankuba Minte in the third minute of the second half and Giorgiño Rutter in the 13th minute of the second half. Eventually, he failed to block Danny Welbeck’s header following Rutter’s cross at the 21st minute of the second half, and suffered an upset loss.
According to Opta, Tottenham had its 10th come-from-behind loss when it was ahead by more than two goals. This is the most ever recorded in the Premier League.
