The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it will announce the results of an audit on the appointment of a national soccer coach by the Korea Football Association at 10 a.m. on October 2 at the briefing room in the annex of the Seoul Government Complex. The briefing will be presided over by Jang Mi-ran, the second vice minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been conducting an audit of the Korea Football Association since mid-July to see if there were any problems with the appointment process due to the fierce controversy over the appointment of Hong Myung-bo. The Korea Football Association is a public service-related organization that receives more than 1 billion won in financial support from the government or local governments, so it is subject to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s audit.
According to the Korea Football Association’s labor union, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has conducted an audit of the entire administration of the Korea Football Association, including the appointment of head coach Hong, with inspectors residing at the Korea Football Association since the middle of last month. The ministry plans to make an interim announcement on the day to announce the results of its audit on the appointment of Hong Myung-bo. The final announcement of the audit will be made not only through the appointment process but also through the administration of the Korea Football Association.
