Son Woong-jung (62) and two coaches were briefly indicted on charges of child abuse at the SON Football Academy.
According to news 1 and other news reports, the Chuncheon District Prosecutors’ Office summarily indicted three people, including Son Woong-jung and his coach, who are suspected of child abuse on Thursday. In addition, the Chuncheon District Prosecutors’ Office ordered Son Woong-jung and his coaches to complete a child abuse treatment program.
The victim made a total of 6 million won (63,815 U.S. dollars) deposit to the court, including two million won (23,055 dollars) each for the three children including director Son Woong-jung. The victim replied that she would not seek the deposit.
Summary prosecution is a method in which the prosecution asks the court to impose fines or fines through a written hearing instead of a formal trial. If the court or the person concerned does not express their intention to go to trial, the sentence will be finalized.
According to the prosecution, in June, Chuncheon District Prosecutors’ Office investigated three people, including head coach Son Woong-jung and academy coach, on charges of violating the Child Welfare Act (child abuse). Coach Son Woong-jung and coaches were investigated on charges of corporal punishment, including swearing at a youth player belonging to the SON Football Academy.
In March, a student who had been training at the academy claimed that he was hit with a corner kick rod by his coach in a prone position. During the training camp in Okinawa, Japan, he testified that he was verbally abused by mistake.
Parents of SON Soccer Academy have also appealed for leniency. In July, parents said in a statement, “They are parents of children who are training hard at SON Soccer Academy,” and added, “The progress of the investigation has turned the peaceful place where the children sweated hard with hope until a few days ago.” 먹튀검증
“An investigation is underway as a lawsuit has been filed against the coach for his harsh expressions during the recent training session at the academy and the physical punishment of the coach once during the training session in Japan,” the SON Football Academy said in a statement. “We deeply apologize to the child and his family members who were hurt. The rest of the plaintiffs’ claims are different from the truth. In response, the academy is actively cooperating with the investigation without distorting the facts.”
