Huh Jung-moo, the presidential candidate of the Korea Football Association, directly criticized current chairman Chung Mong-gyu.
Former South Korean national team coach Huh Jung-moo officially declared his candidacy for the presidential election at the Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul, at 2 p.m. on the 25th.
Heo Jeong-moo, a Korean soccer legend and a big-name soccer player, played for the prestigious PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands as a player and made 104 appearances for the A-team to score 30 goals, boosting the development of Korean soccer in the 20th century. After retirement, he began his career as a coach. He started coaching with Pohang Steel’s Atoms and served as a coach for the Korean U.S. team three times. He conducted from 1998 to 2000, and from 2008 to 2010. He left a mark by leading the team to the round of 16 teams at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
He also coached the South Jeolla Dragons and Incheon United in the K-League. After leaving Incheon in 2012, he began his career as a soccer administrator. He served as vice chairman of the Korea Football Association, vice president of the Korea Professional Football Association, and chairman of the Daejeon Hana Citizen’s board. He also served as a commentator and maintained contact with the public.
Huh Jung-moo, who is running for the presidency of the Korea Football Association (KFA), said, “I have decided not to stay on the sidelines anymore. Currently, Korean soccer is faltering. It is not clean, transparent, or just, and the KFA’s dogmatic and self-righteous operating system has resulted in the system’s collapse in the end,” revealing his candidacy and saying what he wants to do when he becomes the KFA president.
He criticized current chairman Chung Mong-gyu, who is at the center of criticism. “The root cause of problems such as the amnesty crisis, the Clinsman scandal, and the appointment of the current director for two to three years lies in the decision-making structure. Due to the arbitrary operation method, the intention was not communicated properly. The appointment of a director should not be made solely by the decision of the president of the association. This happened due to the lack of a system,” Huh said.
When asked to compare him with Chung Mong-gyu, he said, “I know the scene. I know the scene well, from youth soccer to professional baseball. That is my strength. I always thought about how to develop. This is why I dare to challenge myself as a soccer player.”
He also praised Chairman Chung Mong-gyu. “We have to admit that Chairman Chung Mong-gyu laid the foundation for independence,” Huh said. “He recently showed administrative problems. There is no reason to hate people themselves. Chairman Chung Mong-gyu feels that he has a lot of passion for soccer. However, I think we need to change it now. What I felt during my time at the association was that decision-making itself was not working well. I will make decisions on issues through sufficient discussions through a group of experts without changing the wrong things and thinking arbitrarily.” 바카라사이트
Regarding the appointment of Hong Myung-bo, which is related to Chairman Chung Mong-kyu, he added, “There are all the national team’s power reinforcement committees and technical committees, but this happened because they did not work properly. The function must be restored. The chairman of the association should not appoint and dismiss a coach alone. Even the committee that exists will be able to function properly. It is difficult for committees to gather in a day to make recommendations and appoint coaches for men’s and women’s national teams by age. When there is one to two years left in the term, it is necessary to list the coaches in the future.”
