Kang Jin-seong was traded from the Doosan Bears on May 25 after the team’s away game against the Goyang Heroes in the Futures League. His new destination is the SSG Landers. The team was in need of a right-handed hitter, and SSG acquired Kang. After saying goodbye to the team in Jamsil, Kang immediately traveled to Incheon to join the SSG squad. A fresh start.

A native of Gyeonggi Province, Kang joined the NC in 2012 with the 33rd pick of the 4th round. In 2020, he hit .309 in 121 games, sparking the so-called “one hit 먹튀검증 a day” syndrome, and joined Doosan as a compensation player for Park Geon-woo’s transfer ahead of the 2022 season. Contrary to expectations of becoming the protagonist of the ‘compensation player myth’, Kang’s life at Doosan was not easy. He lost his color after modifying his batting form and lost the competition for the starting role.

Speaking to reporters after the sixth game between SSG and Doosan, scheduled to be held at Jamsil Stadium on the 28th, was canceled, Kang said, “I remember having a lot of difficulties at Doosan. There were moments when I wanted to give up, but I trained with the idea of doing my best. Then I heard the news of the trade,” he said, reflecting on the past. “The atmosphere at SSG is good, so I just have to work harder,” he said, strengthening his resolve.

Kang Jin-seong is a right-handed hitter with long power. He hopes to use his strengths to his advantage at SSG Landers Field, a hitter-friendly ballpark. “At SSG, I realized that I can play baseball the way I want to play baseball, so I feel more confident. I’m a player who needs to show my performance at the plate. I want to produce good results,” he said.

He also vowed to create a ‘one hit a day’ syndrome in Incheon. “When I played well, NC won the championship. That was the best time for me. SSG is also a team that won last year, so I want to feel that feeling once again.”

“When I saw it from the outside, I knew I wanted to play for SSG. When I got there, it was really nice, and I just kept saying ‘nice’ over and over again. I didn’t realize there were saunas and sleeping rooms in the stadium as well as Starbucks. I felt like I had the support behind me to do well in baseball. I’m going to do well,” he said, raising his voice.
