Jesse Lingard admitted to riding an unlicensed electric kickboard and handed over an apology.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul said on the 17th that it has launched an internal investigation into Lingard before he was charged with riding an electric kickboard without a license. Lingard was suspected of riding an electric kickboard with his license suspended in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 10:20 p.m. on the 16th, the day before the investigation.
The incident began on the 16th when Lingard released a video of him driving an electric kickboard through his social media account. He has no international or Korean driver’s license because he was caught in a drunk driving crackdown in the UK in September last year and was punished for 18 months of suspension of his license.
Lingard deleted the post after recognizing the problem, but the Gangnam Police Station took action after receiving the tip. Newsis reported the call with a soccer official on Thursday.
An official who spoke with Newsis said, “My mother and sister traveled to Korea and had a meal in Apgujeong-dong. Drinking is nonsense. After this incident, my club said that driving on the kickboard without a license is not allowed, and the athlete clearly recognized it.” 메이저놀이터
As the controversy grew, Lingard made his statement on his social media account. “I drove for a few minutes yesterday (16th) on an electric kickboard. This is a clear fact. I was completely unaware that only helmet-wearing regulations and licensees could drive,” he said.
“I hope foreigners visiting Korea will check the rules here because this can be dangerous. Because safety always comes first for us. I will never repeat this behavior in the future,” he added.
Meanwhile, Lingard, who gained worldwide attention after surprisingly moving to FC Seoul ahead of this season, has scored four goals in 18 matches in the league. Although he does not have many offensive points, his influence on the game and his leadership both inside and outside the ground are receiving favorable reviews.
