Korea University is on the verge of winning the regular season title. The team took a step toward its goal of winning the overall title.
KU extended its winning streak to 토토사이트 10 games with a 62-45 victory over Yonsei University on Feb. 25 at KU’s Hwajung Gymnasium. Yonsei is currently in second place with an 8-1 record. KU needs to win three of its remaining four games to clinch the title.
KU is currently the most dominant offense in college. In 10 games in the NCAA, the team is averaging 86.4 points and holding opponents to 51.2 points. Their scoring differential is 35.2 points.
In the history of college basketball, which began in 2010, the margin of victory has never been greater than 30 points. The previous record was 27.6 points by Kyung Hee University in 2013. KU is on track to make history.
Moreover, against their biggest opponent, Yonsei, they were outscored by 30 points at one point, 60-30.
It would be easy for KU to lose a game like a monkey falling from a tree. If this happens again, as it did last season, and they tie with Yonsei, who wins all of their remaining games, KU will still win the regular season title on a winner-take-all basis.
KU virtually clinched the regular season title with a win over Yonsei, which means that KU is on track to win the regular season title for the seventh time in its history (2014, 2018, 2022).
Unlike in the regular season, KU was often upset by Yonsei in the playoffs. They have been crowned champions five times. This time, they will challenge for the sixth time.
If they can top the playoffs again, they will win their fourth overall title. A combined title means winning the regular season and playoffs at the same time.
KU won the title in 2014, 2015, and 2022.
However, KU has never won an “all-win” title. In 2014, they won 16 games in the regular season before losing in the championship game, and last year they were swept by Chung-Ang University in the regular season.
“We worked very hard last year, so we’re going to do things differently to defend our title,” said KU head coach Joo Hee-jung ahead of the start of this season. “Last year’s loss to Chung-Ang University became a medicine for me and the players. This year, our goal is to win the title without losing.”
Let’s see if Korea University, which boasts a more stable offense than ever before, can achieve a flawless overall victory.
For reference, Chung-Ang University (25 wins) in 2010 and Kyung-Hee University (26 wins) in 2011 won the KU Basketball League title.
