Jeonnam Dragons appointed Kim Hyun-seok as the 16th head coach to lead the promotion of the K League 1.

Coach Kim Hyun-seok, who showed his best leadership in the K League 2 in the 2024 season, mutually agreed to try to promote to the K League 1 with Jeonnam starting in the 2025 season.

Coach Kim Hyun-seok is a K-League legend who played in 373 games, including the League Cup, scored 111 goals and 54 assists, and won the K-League’s best 116 times, MVP (1996) and top scorer (1997), along with the nickname “Gamulchi.”

Immediately after his retirement, he served as Ulsan Hyundai coach from 2004 to 2012, and was appointed as the head coach of Gangneung Jungang High School in 2014 and led him to win the nation’s high school Gangwon League in the first half of 2017. After that, he served as the head coach of Ulsan University and the head of Ulsan Hyundai’s youth reinforcement department, and then took over as the secretary general of Chungnam Asan FC in 2022. Kim Hyun-seok, the head coach of Chungnam Asan FC in 2024, advanced the team to the runner-up and promotion playoffs.

Meanwhile, Jeonnam will quickly appoint a coaching staff to assist head coach Kim Hyun-seok and begin winter training in earnest in preparation for the 2025 season, starting with the meeting on the 17th.
