Chung Mong-kyu (62), the 55th president of the Korea Football Association who said he couldn’t rest on Christmas, set “restoring public trust” as his core value.
Candidate Chung Mong-gyu, who completed the registration of the 55th president of the Korea Football Association on the 25th, announced his pledge to run at 11 a.m. on the 26th at the Korea Football Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Candidate Chung will be able to run in this election after passing the ruling by the Korea Sports Council’s Sports Fair Committee (Fair Commission) on the 11th. The 55th presidential election for the Korea Football Association is expected to be a three-way race between current chairman Chung Mong-kyu, former national team coach Huh Jung-moo, and Professor Shin Moon-sun of Myongji University (the Department of Sports Record Analysis).
Since his election in January 2013, when he was elected by beating three rivals, Chung has run alone in the second and third elections and has been re-elected unexpectedly. Chung’s bid to run for the fourth time will be a primary race.
Candidate Chung, who announced his official candidacy on the 20th, announced on the 25th that he had completed the registration of candidates first.
“Did you all have a good Christmas?” said Chung, a presenter on the day. “I didn’t enjoy it well in preparation for my pledge. I prepared this event to convey my sincere feelings to the public,” Chung said, stressing that he focused on preparing his pledge without having a day off.
What Chung paid most attention to was the restoration of trust in the Korea Football Association. “We will increase public communication to restore trust in the KFA, enhance international competitiveness, develop the soccer industry, and expand the bottom of the soccer field,” he said, explaining his vision for soccer.
In particular, candidate Chung emphasized “recovery,” as the public and soccer fans’ faith in the Korea Football Association fell to the ground due to a number of controversies that followed, starting with the appointment of Jurgen Klinsmann and the “pardon of snatching.”
While talking about “communication among the people” as his core values, Chung emphasized the implementation of empathy, sharing and contribution. “In order to strengthen communication with the nation and restore trust, we will expand public participation in the KFA’s major decision-making process,” Chung said.
He also said that he would elaborate the evaluation criteria and make the selection process transparent and public about the process of appointing a director, which has been controversial several times. To this end, he said, “I will strengthen the capabilities of the power enhancement committee and appoint a director focusing on fairness and professionalism.” 메이저놀이터
Candidate Chung promised to promote policy discussions with the public and continue to share KFA directions by introducing a KFA policy debate and a spokesperson system.
Candidate Chung emphasized, “Based on our vision to make a happy Korea through soccer, we will communicate directly with fans to actively communicate our pledges and build trust.”
Meanwhile, the election for the 55th president of the Korea Football Association is scheduled for January 8 next year.
