Former national team coach Huh Jung-moo, who is running for president of the Korea Football Association, strongly raised suspicions of fraudulent elections by the Korea Football Association.
Candidate Huh said in a press release on the 21st, “The problem of management and operation of the Korea Football Association abandoning fairness and common sense in the presidential election has been revealed,” adding, “In particular, serious illegal circumstances have been confirmed in some cases.”
Candidate Heo’s side said, “We received a report that a senior executive of the association had already leaked the list of electors and campaigned based on it,” adding, “If this report is true, it is a clear election fraud, and it will be difficult for the association to deny it.”
In addition, candidate Heo pointed out further problems in the election process. “On the 13th, in early January next year, when the players and leaders of all professional clubs left for overseas training, 43 electors assigned to leaders and players announced that they could not participate in the vote and requested an alternative, but they did not receive any response from the association,” he said. “If the related regulations are not in the election management regulations, they should discuss early voting with the approval of the board of directors of the association, the election management committee, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the consent of the candidates,” he urged.
Candidate Heo also raised the issue of the legitimacy of the formation of the election management committee. “We cannot confirm the legitimacy of the composition because the list of members is not disclosed,” he said. “According to the association’s articles of association and election management regulations, two-thirds of the election management committee should be made up of people who are not related to the soccer association, and the chairman should also be a person who is not directly related to the association.” 먹튀검증
The KFA countered by saying, “We have no obligation to disclose the list of members. The election management committee of other sports organizations is also not disclosing the list,” but Heo said, “This attitude of the KFA is an example of the lack of transparency. The list of the election management committee must be disclosed.”
Candidate Heo called for thorough improvement of the system, saying, “Elections without securing fairness and transparency cannot gain trust from the people and soccer players.”
