Korea-Japan Friendship Women’s Senior Soccer Tournament, first kick-off in October!
The Korea-Japan match will also be held in amateur women’s senior soccer. The women’s senior soccer team FC the Joy+ will host a friendly women’s senior soccer tournament between Korea and Japan on October 13.
FC The Joy+ is a women’s senior soccer team founded in February last year, led by cultural artists and senior models. Coach Byun Hyung-guk, who played for Hallelujah, a professional soccer team (the first-time winner of the K-League), is coaching the players.
The number of soccer teams that started with 10 players has increased to around 20 in a year, and young team members in their 20s and 30s have also joined the team. They have continuously improved their skills by practicing every Saturday and going to field training twice. This is their first full-fledged participation in a soccer tournament.
A total of four teams will participate in this year’s event. Korea has three teams, including FC The Joy+, the women’s soccer team in Gwangjin-gu, and the women’s soccer team in 津, Shizuoka Prefecture, and the Japanese side will participate in the event.

The Yize Bastaz is a women’s soccer team that has been active for more than 30 years. Some players have been active since their 20s and are in their 50s, while others have a mother and a daughter who play together.
Lee Ju-yeon, head of FC The Joy Plus, and Coach Byun Hyung-guk visited Japan in May this year to meet with the Bastaz team to discuss regular exchanges. FC The Joy Plus raised funds by holding a bazaar in June to invite the Bastaz team, and the friendly match became a soccer tournament with the help of people who agreed.
Baek Jong-hyun, a male senior model, readily lent his Ilsan house to the Japanese team’s accommodation, alleviating great concerns. Choi Jae-ik, former president of the Seoul Football Association, helped make a reservation for the soccer field where the tournament will be held.
