Up until last June, it was a no-brainer. However, Blake Snell (32, San Francisco Giants) has recently proved himself on his own.
Snell pitched 69 innings in 13 games of the season until the 14th (Korea time), recording 2-3 losses and a 3.91 strikeout average.
Considering his overall performance, he is obviously disappointed. His annual salary is below 32 million U.S. dollars. He cannot even think of a “jackpot contract.”
Snell, however, has continued his remarkable pitching since coming back from the injured list early last month, proving why he is the winner of the Cy Young Award in the two major leagues.
Snell pitched 45 1/3 innings in seven games since returning from injury, recording two wins and no losses with a 0.99 ERA. He has a whopping 60 strikeouts.
He only had 14 hits in 451/3 innings. He still allows 14 walks, but his on-base percentage and OPS are only 0.176 and 0.335, respectively.
Snell played more than six innings in all six games since his return from injury, after allowing five scoreless innings in his first game. He also achieved No-Hitter early this month.
In particular, against the Atlanta Braves on the 13th, he played a total of 23 strikeouts and luxury pitchers with opposing starter Chris Sale.
San Francisco and Snell’s contract runs up to 2025 seasons. Snell’s 2025 season contract is a player option. That is, they can return to the market after this season.
In fact, this could be the last chance for Snell. Born in 1992, Snell will turn 33 in the 2025 season. Being even a year younger is a weapon. 안전놀이터
Snell, who failed to win the Cy Young Award last year, was also evaluated as wise by the teams that did not give the jackpot contract until June.
Snell, however, is setting the stage for another big-time deal based on his stellar pitching in the last seven games.
The season is still about a month and a half away. This is a showcase for Snell. If Snell continues to perform well in the remaining games, he will confidently enter the market.
