Lee attended a press conference to inaugurate the 10th Gyeongnam FC manager held at the press conference room on the first floor of Changwon Football Center at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee was tasked with elevating the team that crashed in the 2024 season. Last season, South Gyeongsang Province had a bad season, ranking 12th in the K League 2. The team had a rough season, citing various rumors both domestically and internationally.
Coach Lee Eul-yong, who had to rebound, called up his players early on. He will train through Dec. 24 while recruiting players to select who they want, take a break, and then go to Chiang Mai, Thailand for the first training camp from Jan. 4. The second training camp is in Changwon.
He clearly identified the color of soccer that Lee said at the press conference. He revealed his plan to transplant fast-tempo offensive soccer. “I don’t prefer defensive soccer as my personality. I want to play exciting and aggressive soccer,” Lee said. Pointing out that South Gyeongsang Province’s defense was not good last season, he said he would strengthen its defense organization and focus on physical training.
He promised to transform into a younger team. Coach Lee Eul-yong seems to have decided that in order to play the fast-paced soccer that he desired, energetic players who can play 100 minutes exceeding 90 minutes are needed. Expressing his strong commitment to change, he said, “We will bring about change in about two-thirds (of the existing squad). We will bring in the players who are needed by making trades, and FA players are also watching. We are trying to balance our teams. Overall, we are trying to become a younger team.” 먹튀검증
In particular, Lee seemed to have strong will to add more players to the defense team. “I think I lack the defense team. I want to add more players to the defense team,” Lee said. “When I watched Gyeongnam soccer last season, the gap was wide and the defense method was different from my direction. I lost a lot of points because I gave more space. I want to focus on that part and develop it,” Lee said.
While clarifying its direction, the team is drawing up a blueprint for what kind of soccer it will play in South Gyeongsang Province in the 2025 season. 2024 is not over yet, but it is already in the process of gathering players and holding individual meetings with them to strengthen its foundation. Coach Lee Eul-yong, who has entered the battlefield of professional baseball again, is working hard to raise expectations for the next season.
