Is it correct that the chairman has decided to appoint a director? The opinions of the chairman and the members were divided.
A question on pending issues of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee was held at the National Assembly on the 4th. Chung Mong-kyu, chairman of the Korea Football Association, Hong Myung-bo, head coach of the Korea Football Association, and Lee Im-saeng, technical director of KFA, attended the meeting. Various questions were exchanged, but there were mixed words.
First, director Lee Im-saeng expressed his position on the appointment surrounding director Hong Myung-bo and talked about his resignation. During the questioning process surrounding director Lee, there was a story that was different from what was previously known. First, Min Hyung-bae of the Democratic Party of Korea released an image of a message conversation between director Lee and a power reinforcement committee member as data.
According to the data, Lee Im-saeng, a technical director, asked A, a power reinforcement committee member, “I put in a text message. You just need to confirm that I asked (Reporter XX) to agree to the final decision.” However, A replied, “It would be nice if you could proceed without me. I am sorry.”
This is contrary to the previous claim that technical director Lee Im-saeng conducted interviews with foreign directors and appointments of Hong Myung-bo after receiving delegation from the remaining five members of the power reinforcement committee for the final decision. The message conversation took place at 9 p.m. on July 8, a day after the KFA announced that it had appointed Hong Myung-bo as the national team coach.
Earlier, after the resignation of Chung Hae-sung, chairman of the Korea Power Reinforcement Committee, Lee interviewed David Wagner and Gus Foyet in Europe, and met with Hong Myung-bo on the 5th, the day he returned home, and persuaded him, before appointing Hong as the final head coach.
However, Min claimed that he was conciliatory to Lee and the committee member, which was not true. Park Joo-ho, who was a committee member, said in a question-and-answer session with Min, “I remember talking on the phone for about a minute. We talked about asking for consent, but it was notification. We agreed on the right to appoint a coach and did not talk about a candidate (such as Hong Myung-bo).”
This conversation shows that in the end, the director did not break the procedure and appoint a director and then conciliate, but proceeded with it with prior consent. Regarding the contents of the conversation that Min disclosed, the director also clearly drew the line, saying, “Please confirm that Min asked me to agree to the appointment of the director in advance, not to conciliate.”
Director Lee Im-saeng said, “I did not condone it. And I cannot admit that all of them did not get consent by phone. The content of the conversation also means that the corresponding member will not be able to confirm what the reporter requested (fact check). I am so sorry. I will resign as you said.”
In addition, Rep. Lim Oh-kyung, who was questioned by Rep. Lim Oh-kyung, said, “Chairman Chung Hae-sung and Park Joo-ho, who were participating in the committee, are at odds. First of all, Chairman Chung tells all individual members at the 10th meeting that the chairman has been delegated authority to make a decision on the appointment of a director. On the other hand, Park said, “I have never delegated authority.” “Although we agreed, we agreed on the appointment after reviewing from among the candidates for the coach,” Park explained. “We have delegated the authority to select among the five outstanding candidates for the coach.”
“Chairman Chung who attended the same meeting said that he picked three candidates at the 10th meeting. On the other hand, the committee members say that there are five. Basically, there is a difference in words from here,” Rep. Chung said. “Seven votes gave Dong-ryul (Hong Myung-bo, David Wagner). In addition, Gus Foyet, the third-ranked player, was added to interview two foreign coaches via video, excluding domestic coaches.”
In response to such mixed responses, Rep. Lim said, “Park said she did not agree at the 10th meeting. On the other hand, Chung said he did it with consent.” “All the details are in the minutes of the 10th meeting. The process of determining the ranking based on the number of votes earned and then selecting them through interviews is the appointment of the chairman,” he said again.
On top of that, Park said, “When I first contacted Jesse Marsi, I picked the first, second and third priority and shared the position. However, although the decision was made through multiple voting, I think it is different from when selecting the coach. Meetings and reports may not be accurate to me. Chung may be right in part, but I was just being honest about what I felt.” 스포츠토토
As Park said, there may be differences in individual positions, but the majority of the members seem to have agreed that the chairman will have the final say on the appointment of the director. This should be considered to have been decided since the days of the committee led by Chairman Chung Hae-sung. For this reason, it is interpreted that when Hong was appointed, he followed previously set regulations from the final attempt to appoint Masi.
