Saudi Arabia has decided to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, which has led to the hosting of another World Cup Winter Games. The 2030 World Cup will be co-hosted by Morocco (Africa), Portugal and Spain (Europe).
FIFA unanimously voted to select the venue for the 2030 and 2034 World Cup at a special general meeting in which all 211 member countries participated via video conference on the 12th (Korea time). In 2030, it will be co-hosted by Morocco, Portugal and Spain, and three games to celebrate the 100th anniversary will be held in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, respectively.

As a result, the 2030 World Cup will be co-hosted by more than three countries for the second consecutive time following the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The 2030 World Cup already selected the three countries as co-hosts at the council meeting in October last year. On top of that, in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup, one of the 104 games in the 2030 World Cup will also be played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, respectively.

As a result, the 2030 tournament will be held in six countries across three continents. In Uruguay, the host country of the first tournament in 1930, which started the World Cup, the opening game will be held at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, the venue for the tournament 100 years ago.
The 2034 competition will take place in Saudi Arabia. As the 2034 competition was the lone candidate following 2030, the competition had already been decided. It was expected to be a two-way race between Australia, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, which announced their intention to co-host the event, but Indonesia supported Saudi Arabia in October last year and Australia also withdrew its intention to host the event.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said, “In today’s divided world, the World Cup is an amazing message of unity and positivity,” adding, “Today is not only a victory for the seven countries (that host the World Cup), but also a day of global integration and celebration.” 바카라사이트

The 2034 World Cup is expected to be held in winter, not summer, like the first ever World Cup held in the Middle East in 2022. The 2022 Qatar World Cup, which was held in the Middle East for the first time, was also held from November to December. Typically, the World Cup was held from June to July, after the European season ended.

Saudi Arabia has already hosted the 2034 Summer Asian Games and is scheduled to be held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 14, so the World Cup may be held in January, the beginning of the following year.
