Cho Hyun-woo (Ulsan), Yang Min-hyuk (Gangwon), and Andersson (Suwon FC) will compete for the position of the most valuable player (MVP) in the K-League in 2024. The MVP can make a page in K-League history.

The K-League 2024 Awards ceremony will take place at the Grand Hotel in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. At the ceremony, various awards will be given including the Young Player Award, the Best Director Award and the Best Eleven.

Cho Hyun-woo, Yang Min-hyuk and Andersson compete in the MVP category, which will be the grand finale of the event. Records show that it is not strange for anyone to take the MVP.

Cho Hyun-woo started all 38 games this season and gave up 40 goals. Of the 14 games Cho Hyun-woo scored no runs, Ulsan finished eight with a 1-0 victory. Ulsan, where Cho Hyun-woo firmly stood behind, achieved three consecutive wins.

If Cho Hyun-woo is selected as the best star in the K-League, he will be the second goalkeeper MVP in 16 years since Lee Woon-jae, coach of Suwon Samsung in 2008.

Yang, who started this season as a semi-professional player, played in all 38 games as a starter and substitute, and scored 12 goals and six assists, tying Lee Dong-kyung (Kim Chun) and Lee Seung-woo (Jeonbuk Hyundai) in the number of attack points. He is also two behind Andersson, who posted the most number of attack points (20). Thanks to Yang’s performance, Gangwon posted the highest ever record of ranking second in the K-League 1.

If Yang Min-hyuk, who is highly likely to win the Young Player Award, wins the MVP award, he will become the first player in the K-League to win both the MVP and the Rookie of the Year award. In addition, he will become the first MVP in 32 years since Hong Myung-bo, who joined the pro league in 1992 and received the MVP award. Shin Tae-yong won the Rookie of the Year award in 1992.

Having challenged himself on the Korean stage for the first time, Andersson ranked first in this category with 13 assists. He also added seven more goals, setting the record for most offensive points. Suwon FC finished fifth thanks to Andersson’s performance even when its main players were absent during the season. 먹튀검증

If Andersson wins the MVP, he will be named the fifth foreign MVP in six years since 2018 when he won Gyeongnam FC’s Malkon. After Nadson became the first foreign MVP in 2004, Tabarez (2007), Dejan (2012) and Malkon won the award.

MVP protagonists are selected through votes from each club manager (30%), captain (30%), and media (40%).
