K-League members gathered for the first time to share opinions over the “Chunchu system,” which is becoming a global trend. Discussions began to convert the K-League system, which has been operated under the “Chunchu system” for more than 40 years, to the “Chunchu system.”
The Korea Professional Football Federation held a “public hearing to review the transition to the K-League’s pursuit system” at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies auditorium in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 13th.
Holding a public hearing, the federation said, “Currently, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League, including the five major European leagues, is operating under the system, and the Japanese J-League is set to switch to the system from the 2026-2027 season. Therefore, the K-League also plans to consider switching to the system in consideration of international soccer tournaments and major overseas leagues.”
Reporter Seo Ho-jung was in charge of the public hearing, and Ulsan HD Director Choi Jung-ho, Chungbuk Cheongju FC Director Yoon Ji-hyun, Team Leader Kim Jong-yoon of the Korea Football Association’s tournament management team, Yonhap News Agency reporter Ahn Hong-seok, representative Wang San Green Lee Kang-gun, K-League Commissioner Chung Tae-seok and Pohang Steelers defender Shin Kwang-hoon attended the hearing.
The panelists generally agreed with the transition to the autumn system. Director Yoon Ji-hyun was partially opposed to changing the club’s fiscal year, saying it was difficult to change the club’s fiscal year, but he was generally positive about the transition to the autumn system from various perspectives, including the club, the Korea Football Association, the media, grass managers, medical staff, and players.
Ahn Chi-joon, head of the team’s support team, presented the outline and key considerations for the Chuchun Festival.
“The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League, including the five major European leagues, is currently being operated under the system, and the Japanese J-League is set to change the system from 2026-2027 season. Therefore, the K-League is also considering changing the system in consideration of international soccer tournaments and major overseas league operations,” Ahn said during a public hearing.
Choi Jung-ho, director of Ulsan, said, “As I participate in the Champions League, I am in favor of actively changing the autumn and spring seasons. As I have been in operation for two years, there is a saying, “It is difficult for clubs to follow in this situation. I think it is limiting the joy and performance that can be given to fans.”
“The global standard, 메이저사이트 the world, is having a springtime system, and the World Cup, Club World Cup, and AFC are also changing to a springtime system. There must be a reason why Japan, the next country, is also doing it. I don’t think we’re the only ones who have the springtime system. It’s not important not to change this, but to reflect it in a good way and develop it to find a factor that attracts more spectators when more K-League spectators come in. I personally think there will be things to improve after hearing various opinions,” he said.
Yoon Ji-hyun, secretary-general of Chungcheongbuk-do Province, said, “I agree. Fundamentally, we are not in a position to unconditionally oppose the system. No one would know because many of you have never experienced the system,” adding, “However, the decisive thing is that some teams may feel uncomfortable and have difficulties in conducting the system now. If we change it to the system, it can be very confusing or impossible. We cannot go beyond the local government’s budget year or the confusion of changing things through trial and error that we have not experienced. As the J-League, which is right next to us, is implementing it, we should watch the trials and errors for a year or two and start when it is perfectly prepared. As we see the confusion the J-League is experiencing, I think if we minimize the trial and error, we will be able to minimize the confusion to the K-League spectators. I hope it will proceed after careful consideration.”
