Cha Bum-kun and Son Heung-min are two legendary players of all time in Korea. JS Foundation Chairman Park Ji-sung sympathized with the public’s anger toward the Korea Football Association (KFA).
Chairman Park Ji-sung attended the 13th JS Foundation Talent Student Support Event held at the WI Convention at Suwon World Cup Stadium in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, on Nov. 8.
Chairman Park Ji-sung said at the meeting, “Nothing has changed,” adding, “We are not in a situation to tell you what happened because the KFA has not changed anything particularly.”
“We have to see how this problem ends. We have to wait and see the results. It is important what kind of plan we have and how we will change it when it ends. It is clear that the KFA has lost credibility to many people. I think we need to make sure that we complete the process to recover that credibility and go in the right direction,” he said.
It is not the first time that Chairman Park Ji-sung mentioned KFA.
Chairman Park Ji-sung also delivered his thoughts on KFA Chairman Chung Mong-gyu and national team coach Hong Myung-bo at a cultural event held at the Seoul Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in July.
Park Ji-sung, chairman of the board, said, “I didn’t look at all the state audits. However, I looked at the things that were organized by many media companies. I could feel why many people were angry. I have thoughts about how this will end up in my head.”
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the final results of a special KFA audit on Nov. 5 at the annex of the Seoul Government Complex in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Since July 29, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has conducted audits on KFA’s appointment of Jurgen Klinsman, national team coach Hong Myung-bo, surprise amnesty and withdrawal of corrupt soccer players, execution of loans and subsidies related to the construction of the Korea Football Center, payment of salary advisory fees for part-time executives, management of leadership qualifications, and other operations.
Choi Hyun-joon, inspector general of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said at the meeting that “27 cases of illegal and unjust have been identified” and that “we demanded the KFA take disciplinary action, corrective action, caution, and improvement of the system.” “We have informed the KFA to come up with reasonable improvement measures,” he said.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also clearly pointed out the most controversial issue of appointing Hong Myung-bo as the national team coach. 토토사이트
Inspector Choi said, “Under the KFA regulations, directors are recommended by the Power Reinforcement Committee and appointed by the board of directors. The KFA neutralized the Power Reinforcement Committee by requesting the chairman of the Power Reinforcement Committee to delegate all authority at the first meeting of the Power Reinforcement Committee when Klinsmann was appointed, and notifying him of the results of the director’s appointment at the second meeting. In addition, Chairman Chung Mong-gyu, who does not have the authority to recommend, conducted an interview and omitted the process of appointing the board of directors,” he said.
Inspector Choi continued, “When Hong Myung-bo was appointed, technical director Lee Im-saeng, who was not authorized under the regulations, conducted interviews in an unfair and opaque way, and nominated and announced Hong Myung-bo as the national team coach. Since then, it has been confirmed that the board of directors has been formally operated, such as asking for a written resolution from the board of directors. When the problem of the director’s appointment process was revealed, the KFA showed a behavior of deceiving the public by distributing false rebuttal and press releases.”
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism called for disciplinary action beyond suspension against Chairman Chung Mong-kyu, vice chairman Kim Jung-bae, and technical director Lee Im-saeng, who are involved in the inappropriate operation of the national team in violation of the “National Football Team Operation Regulations.”
For director Hong Myung-bo, whose procedural defects have been identified, KFA has notified him to come up with measures to heal procedural defects in the process of appointing Hong Myung-bo, including recommending candidates for supervision again by the Korea Power Reinforcement Committee and appointing them by the board of directors.
