Son Heung-min’s return is getting closer.

Tottenham Hotspur will have its 10th round home game of the 2024-2025 Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, at 11 p.m. on Saturday (Korea time). The opponent is Aston Villa.

Attention is focusing on whether Son will return to the team or not. Tottenham manager Enze Postecoglou told a news conference ahead of the match against Aston Villa, “He completed training today. If he trains again tomorrow (Sunday), he will be able to play in the match against Aston Villa.”

In October, Son said he would return to the match against Aston Villa. “He is recovering smoothly. He will return during the upcoming match against Manchester City or Aston Villa,” he said, signaling the timing of Son’s return.

“Son Heung-min’s physical condition has improved a lot. I hope he will play in the weekend match rather than the next one. Maybe he will be able to play in the weekend.” The weekend match mentioned here was the match against Aston Villa on Nov. 3.

And on Thursday, Tottenham released the video of their team’s training on its official website. Some of the footage also showed Son. At the training site, Son said “Good morning” to the camera and ran lightly.

Afterwards, he paired up with James Maddison to display a sprint. His movements were light.

Son Heung-min’s injury dates back to September 27. He collapsed on the ground during the second half of the UEFA Europa League game and started as a substitute. Immediately after the game, Son complained to Postecoglou about his discomfort.

The injured area is left hamstring, and hamstring pain is a place where recurrence is easy. It is common for people to return quickly for a small injury and then fail to run due to pain again.

Since the beginning of this season, Son has played a lot of matches between Tottenham Hotspur and the Korean national team. He played in all of Tottenham’s first seven games and displayed a tight schedule for the Korean national team.

In the end, he missed three consecutive games due to a hamstring injury. He was also excluded from the Korean national team’s call-up list. He then returned to the game against West Ham United on October 19 and scored his third goal of the season, but missed the next game again. 스포츠토토

However, when Son was absent again, he had to take care of himself. Postecoglou said, “Son Heung-min’s injury was not his hamstring. He said he was not in good condition after being absent for a while, so he took it out for management. If everything goes well, he will be able to play next week,” reassuring Tottenham fans.

Aston Villa are ranked fourth in the Premier League, which is higher than Tottenham (8th). If Son returns, Tottenham will gain nothing. In particular, Son is famous as the killer of Aston Villa. He has scored seven goals and three assists against Aston Villa nine times so far. He thus effectively scored points in attack every time they met.

However, Postecoglou remained vigilant. He highly valued Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.
