Yang Min-hyuk (Gangwon FC), the youngest member of the national soccer team, said he wants to be close to Son Heung-min.
Led by coach Hong Myung-bo, the Korean national soccer team will play the first match of the FIFA World Cup Asia Final Qualifier at 8 p.m. on Tuesday against Palestine at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. The national soccer team has been participating in a convocation training session since Tuesday, and overseas players gradually joined the team.
Four players, including Yang Min-hyuk, Hwang Moon-ki (Gangwon FC), Choi Woo-jin (Incheon United), and Lee Han-beom (Mit Willan), were selected for the national team for the first time.
Yang is drawing the most attention. Born in 2006, Yang has displayed perfect dribbling skills and scoring ability despite his debut season in the K-League. Yang took over the K-League with eight goals and five assists, and quickly made inroads into Europe. Yang confirmed his transfer to Tottenham last month and plans to join the team next summer.
“Yang Min-hyuk showed a performance that allowed him to join the national team. He deserves it and it is right to give him a chance,” Hong said, explaining the reason for the selection.
Yang first said, “It’s an honor. I’m grateful to have this opportunity at such an early age. As the youngest, I think I need to get to know them quickly and adapt more. I received many congratulations from them.”
Regarding Son Heung-min’s delivery, he said, “I said I was doing well and told me to study English hard. This time, I want to get closer to living together and talk a lot.” 안전놀이터
On joining the national team, Yang said, “Yesterday was systematic even though it was a recovery training. I am looking forward to the future as I trained with seriousness and joy.”
“In the beginning, (Lee) Jae-sung talked to me a lot and took good care of me,” Yang said. “I came in with (Choi) Woo-jin, and I’m getting help,” he said. “I don’t want to be intimidated just because I’m young. I want to be bold.”
