The South Korean U-19 national team announced a good start by beating Thailand in the first round of the EOU Cup in Seoul.

The U-19 national team, led by head coach Lee Chang-won, won 4-1 against Thailand, which had only one goal with consecutive goals by Shim Yeon-won (Daegu FC), Jin Jun-seo (Gangwon FC), Hong Seok-hyun (Hannam University), and Kim Myung-joon (Pohang Steelers) in the first round of the 2024 Seoul EOU Cup U-19 Friendship Competition at 7:30 p.m. on the 28th (Korea Standard Time).

The U-19 national team, which won its first game, will face Argentina’s U-19 national team at 7:30 p.m. on the 30th.

The Seoul EOU Cup Under-19 International Friendship Competition, which marks its second anniversary following last year, will feature South Korea, Argentina, Indonesia, and Thailand to determine the winner through a full league. The competition will be co-hosted by the Seoul Football Association and the Korea Sports Agents Association.
Coach Lee Chang-won brought out the 4-2-3-1 formation. With Kim Gyeol (Seoul E-land) as the one-top, Jin Joon-seo and Park Soo-bin (CD Leganes) were on both sides. Kim Tae-won (Portimonens) played the offensive midfielder, followed by Son Seung-min (Daegu FC) and Kim Dong-min (Pohang Steelers). The four backs consisted of Jo In-jeong (Jeju United), Shim Yeon-won, Shin Min-ha (Gangwon FC), and Lee Kun-hee (Suwon Samsung), and Park Sang-young (Daegu FC) wore the goalie gloves.

The U-19 national team, which had been in the lead since the beginning of the game, scored the first goal. In the 26th minute of the first half, Kim Dong-min’s corner kick toward the far side of the net was played by Shim Yeon-won, who turned behind the opponent’s defender and connected it with a header, giving the team its first goal.

The U-19 national team, which gained momentum with the first goal, widened the gap just before the end of the first half. Lee Kun-hee, who received Son Seung-min’s pass in the extra time of the first half, crossed to the gate, and Kim Tae-won dropped it with his head to Jin Jun-seo, who was behind him. Jin Jun-seo’s first shot, which received the ball, hit the post but pushed the ball back, marking his team’s second goal.
Immediately after entering the second half, the U-19 national team put in Baek Min-gyu, Hong Seok-hyun and Kim Myung-joon instead of Park Soo-bin, Kim Tae-won and Kim Gyeol, but contrary to expectations, they allowed Thailand to score a comeback goal with a counterattack in the 11th minute of the second half.

However, it didn’t take long to widen the gap again. As soon as Hong Seok-hyun received Kim Myung-jun’s pass at the 15th minute of the second half, his shot that was curled into a corner was inserted into the corner of the goal, leading to his third goal. In the 41st minute of the second half, Kim also completed the fourth goal with a witty chip shot from a one-on-one chance. 먹튀검증
